Scrapped follows the story of a young space pilot whose ship breaks down mid-flight resulting in a damaging crash onto an unknown alien planet. Hoping her ship remained unscathed, the pilot inspects the damage, realizing to her dismay that a small but crucial piece of her ship is broken seemingly beyond repair. Assessing her surroundings, she heads towards a nearby marketplace in the hopes of finding a replacement piece to get her ship back into commission and get herself back home.
The pilot is met with many different vendors willing to charge any price to make a decent profit. Jumping from one rich personality to another, she struggles to find someone willing to help her for a price she can afford. The pilot is led by fate into the hands of a humble old vendor who works in the craft of refurbishment, encouraging her to give his services a try and providing her with an alternative solution to purchasing brand new; using old parts to fix what is broken the pilot ultimately learns the value in repairing what you have instead of purchasing things brand new for sake of convenience.

Marina Sproule
My name is Marina Sproule, I am a 3D modeler who has experience in layouts and painting have been interested in art since I was 7, ever since I first put pen to paper. I have come a long way since then and have been learning all I can about art since. Doing 3D modeling is my ultimate goal in my career, and any chance to get better or work that muscle is a good one. I have had the lovely opportunity to work with and direct my lovely team on our thesis project, Scrapped, which was a huge collaborative effort made by all of us, showing off and building our strengths, and also working on and bettering our weaknesses. The film holds a close place in my heart as it stars a female lead trying to figure out a problem in an unknown environment and also takes inspiration from a lot of my favorite things, while still allowing me to work on 3D modeling and colours well learning new skills in areas like directing and compositing. Overall, I have had a great, strong team to help my vision become a reality.
Grace Tolmie
My name is Grace Tolmie, and I am an aspiring layout and character artist. I am interested in all things to do with design, storytelling, character and problem solving. I’ve always been interested in working in the animation industry and love to collaborate with other artists and writers to bring visions to life. The thing I love most when it comes down to it is drawing. I love to create, and my dream is to be able to create within my career. Animation allows me to be creative in my profession and to be with other artists, which is something that is extremely important to me. I joined the Scrapped team and got the opportunity to design characters, sets and story, and I had the time of my life. Working with my team has been a dream, and I am so lucky to have built up my team working skills with my group members.
Malissa Lombardo
My name is Malissa Lombardo and I am a Canadian 2D layout artist and animator. I am driven by the desire to create things that are fun, exciting, and above all else entertaining; to bring a smile to someone’s face or to make them truly feel something through a piece of animation is the ultimate form of achievement for me. I have had the opportunity to work with a talented team of artists on a thesis film called Scrapped, which is an incredible culmination of our joint skillsets and interests. Working collaboratively is the essence of this project and I am proud of what we were able to achieve for our first production together. The story of Scrapped follows that of a young, reckless pilot who finds herself far from home and in a pickle! It is ultimately a story about learning the value of what you have, and re-using what you have rather than buying something brand new.
