Reboot

Reboot is a 3D animated sci-fi short film modeled and textured by Maggie Voska and animated by Rrezarta Qela. Set in an underground compound in the far future, we see through the eyes of a security droid. After being shut down during a riot, it powers back on decades later to find the same compound trashed and devoid of all life. While following a signal, the robot stumbles upon a large room now overtaken by plant life. There it meets the compound’s sole other inhabitant: a small frog. After a compound-wide selfdestruction sequence is accidentally set off, the robot must find a way to escape before time runs out. As the film progresses, an unlikely friendship between the two begins to blossom. This is a story about breaking cycles of violence and embracing connection.

I never thought that my obsession with drawing horses and rewatching Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron a ridiculous amount of times would lead me here…

My name is Rrezarta Qela. I am a Canadian animation graduate from Algonquin College, and a current MTU animation student with a specialization in 3D animation. I’m very dedicated to honing my craft, and I always strive to be the best I can be and improve. I enjoy new challenges. Outside of my work, I enjoy playing video games (my favourites being “The Last of Us”, “Detroit Become Human” and “Red Dead Redemption 2”). I also enjoy learning guitar and solving Rubik’s cubes.

Maggie Voska Bio

My name is Maggie Voska. I’m a Canadian 3D modeler, 2D animator and texture artist who graduated from Algonquin College’s animation program and is currently studying at MTU Kerry. Video games, anime, and 60’s Eastern European cinema have all been important influences in my artistic journey. My other passions include playing guitar, making spreadsheets and buying books I’m definitely 100% going to read. I love exploring new mediums and new techniques that help me further develop my artistic abilities.
