My name is Kevin Roche and I am making a documentary on Ardfert Cathedral. It is called Centuries of Stones. It is a ruined cathedral built in the 12th century. It is 10 mins north of Tralee. The documentary will focus on DĂ³nal Stack, who is the head guide at Ardfert Cathedral. He has been working there since 1994, which is when the OPW took it over and renovated it. DĂ³nal will tell me a brief history of the site, including who built it and why at this location. Also, included will be a few stories from the other churches on site. There is a visitor centre at the cathedral that runs from March to September. My documentary has music made by a MTU Cork student I am collaborating with.
The aim of my documentary is to highlight the history of a local ruin and why it should be kept up and its importance to humanity going forward.
