Adrienne

“Adrienne” is a concept EP, made up of five songs and two interludes. The genre of the EP is indie pop, and draws on influences from artists such as Belle and Sebastian and Big Thief. The narrative of the project follows a nameless protagonist as they navigate a tumultuous relationship which ultimately ends in heartbreak, and it is through the protagonist’s warped gaze that we become familiar with the subject of the EP; Adrienne. The EP leads us from the beginning of the relationship in which the speaker’s adoration and love for Adrienne is apparent, through the breakdown of their communication and the distance growing between them, and finally to the end, in which the protagonist is left alone, wondering what they could have done differently. Themes of love, loss, and heartbreak run throughout the project, which are heavily supported by the lyrical content of each individual song.
